Kate Middleton and Prince William are expecting their first royal baby, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge announced Monday. Prime Minster David Cameron, and seemingly everyone else in the the known universe, took to Twitter to express excitement.

Middleton was admitted to London's King Edward VII hospital on Dec. 3 with a severe form of morning sickness, called hyperemesis gravidarum, the Associated Press reports. News from St. James's Palace is that the pregnancy is in its "very early stages," — less than 12 weeks.

Dr. Daghni Rajasingam, a spokeswoman for Britain's Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, said women with severe [morning sickness] symptoms — including dehydration, dizziness and persistent vomiting — need to be hospitalized for treatment, including being given fluids intravenously.
