Thursday’s freeway attack in Carson looks like the work of a serial shooter, authorities say

Authorities are now saying that the man shot last week in an apparently random act as he drove on the 110 freeway may be the victim of a shotgun-toting serial shooter.
Investigators believe five shootings in or around Carson over an eight-day period this month may have been carried out by the same person, according to the L.A. County Sheriff’s Office.
Last Thursday evening, 21-year-old Anh Tram Nguyen of Placentia was driving northbound on the 110 near Torrance Street when shrapnel blew through the drivers-side window of his car and hit him in the ear. Investigators later determined that Nguyen had been hit by birdshot from a shotgun. He was not seriously injured.
Investigators are seeing similarities between Nguyen’s shooting and that of four other victims in the area beginning on April 18, when a woman was shot in the arm as she walked on Main Street in Carson.
