A 68-year-old North Hollywood man was stabbed to death by his roommate on Saturday after he tried to stop the younger man from assaulting his own girlfriend, police say.
According to a police statement, Vallardes was trying to break up an altercation between his roommate, Manuel Garcia-Perez, and his roommate’s girlfriend. Garcia-Perez turned on Vallardes and stabbed him several times, police say. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Daily News states that Garcia-Perez then “fled into the night wearing only jeans.” As police put it, the 5-foot-5, 130 pound suspect “was wearing blue jeans, no shirt or shoes and may have sustained injuries from the altercation.”

Authorities have released video footage of two men being stabbed last week in Echo Park. The attack occured around midnight on May 24 near the intersection of Echo Park Avenue and Montana Street.
The suspect -- who is still at large -- yelled homophobic slurs at the victims, prompting officials to investigate the incident as a possible hate crime, notes Eastsider LA.
Police are asking for the public's help in identifying the suspect and associates.

The body of a man dressed in lingerie was found mutilated and stabbed to death near the Beverly Center this weekend, and police say they have a suspect in custody.
The body, described only as that of a 27-year-old Asian man wearing women’s lingerie, was found in the middle of the street on the 300 block of Orlando Avenue at about 1:30 a.m. Saturday, KTLA reports. Neighbors who called police to the scene reportedly heard yelling and arguing prior to finding the body, which had been stabbed multiple times.
In a statement, the LAPD said that “Detectives believe the victim was involved in a dispute with the suspect which resulted with the suspect stabbing the victim to death.”
Although they haven’t released more specifics, investigators believe the killer was Richard Herrera, 29, of Los Angeles. Herrera was tracked down and arrested in East L.A. over the weekend.

A gang member was found guilty yesterday of stabbing a young man to death outside a Halloween party in La Habra in 2009.
Steven Salvador Hernandez stabbed 18-year-old Joshua Mora-Rodriguez in the neck with a knife while two co-defendants beat him during an argument outside the La Habra house party on Halloween night. Mora-Rodriguez, the son of two police detectives, bled to death in the street.
A Santa Ana jury found 19-year-old Steven Salvador Hernandez guilty of second-degree murder and “street terrorism” on Thursday, according to Orange County prosecutors.
Prosecutors say Mora-Rodriguez had no gang affiliation, had just graduated from high school, and was preparing to join the Army.
Hernandez faces 15 years to life in state prison.
The two co-defendants have been charged in the crime and are scheduled for trial later this month. The L.A. Times says they are accused of hitting the victim with fists and bats.

A job counselor at a vocational school in Hollywood was attacked in his office on Wednesday in a scene that witnesses described as "gruesome."
The suspect, a 22-year-old student, was stopped and held by nearby students and faculty until the police arrived on the third floor scene at the Job Corps facility, NBC LA reports.
Dwayne Alexander, known commonly as "Mr. A," was taken to a hospital in critical condition for multiple stab wounds to his head and body. He later died.
Alexander reportedly had words with the suspect one day earlier, though the nature of the conversation was not known.
Former students called the suspect quiet and disturbed, and and remarked that he was having diffiuculty adjusting to the school, which offers technical job training and education, and has dormitory facilities.
