He survived war-torn Iraq and Afghanistan, only to be shot dead on a street in Lancaster.
Police are still hunting the man who shot and killed U.S. Army Sgt. Nathen Taylor as sat in his car over the weekend. With three tours of duty under his belt, the 30-year-old war veteran had returned to his hometown of Lancaster and reentered civilian life.
According to several reports, Taylor was sitting alone in his car at about 12:10 a.m. Saturday when a group of men approached and one man shot him several times in the torso at close range. He died soon after at a local hospital. The incident occurred on the 700 block of West Avenue H-7, not far from Mariposa Park.
Taylor apparently had just left a party that night because he didn’t want to be around drinking. A motive for the shooting is not known, according to L.A. County Sheriff’s officials.
