When I started the John Rabe Blog twenty years ago, it was just me, pounding away at the keyboard.
But in the last few months, we've added a number of regular contributors who are, unfortunately, not named John Rabe -- like new Off-Ramp producer Kevin Ferguson, vinyl historian Peter Stenshoel, Marc Haefele, and others ... all of whom reflect the high journalistic and entertainment standards of Off-Ramp.
So, we're changing the name of this blog to Off-Ramp, and long will you remember this day, November 3, 2010. In fact,
He that outlives this day, and comes safe home,
Will stand a tip-toe when the day is named,
And rouse him at the name of Off-Ramp.
He that shall live this day, and see old age,
Will yearly on the vigil feast his neighbours,
And say 'To-morrow is the day John did that thing:'
Then will he strip his sleeve and show his scars.
And say 'These wounds I had on that day.'
Old men forget: yet all shall be forgot,
But he'll remember with advantages
What feats he did that day: then shall our names.
Familiar in his mouth as household words
Ferguson, Stenshoel, and Sigman,
Haefele, Kim, and Miller,
Be in their flowing cups freshly remember'd.
