Mike Sheehan's Election Day sketchbook

Artist Mike Sheehan travelled Southern California on Election Day, sketchpad in hand, capturing voters in the act of exercising their franchise.

Unlike a few photographers we know, Sheehan did not get kicked out of any polling places. One pollworker even encouraged him.

Mike sketched in a foldout sketchpad, which adds a nice sense of continuity because he could meld the lines of voters at the different polling places he visited. But if I were the artist, it'd scare the heck out of me to commit to a three-foot long drawing with no mistakes allowed!
