When I was a kid my family somehow ended up with this satiric review by the gifted radio comedian and Madison Avenue innovator Stan Freberg. This wacky but literate misreading of America's early years was a huge formative influence on me. The use of sound effects and non-sequitur especially fascinated both me and my funny bone. It's probably the reason I'm working with radio.
Here is Stan's take on the way the first Thanksgiving came about. It manages to skewer politicians and notions of Manifest Destiny simultaneously. Enjoy!
