Fish with Santa this Saturday in Whittier

This Saturday, Santa is taking a break from the North Pole to take you and your kids fishing. Fish with Santa is set to go down at Whittier Narrows Recreation Area's Legg Lake, where children ages 5 to 15 get to "rough it" with Santa and enjoy a nice hot dog lunch afterwards. Following the event, there's a congratulatory ceremony and a raffle drawing planned. While this isn't the traditional meet-and-greet with St. Nick, it beats waiting in line at a stuffy mall.

Fish with Santa kicks off at 9:00 a.m. and ends at noon.  It's located at 751 South Santa Anita Avenue, Area D, in South El Monte, CA 91733. The event is free for all ages — parking is free for the first 250 vechicles. Once those spots are taken, six dollars gets you in. There will be a limited number of fishing rods, so bottom line: arrive early.
