The mayoral candidates attacked one another Monday evening in a debate hosted by KPCC and NBC 4. Wendy Greuel and Eric Garcetti accused each other of not having the independence to oversee the Department of Water and Power.

Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa promised to plant 1 million trees in Los Angeles, but ended up with just 400,000. According to the Los Angeles Times editorial board, "In the end, the mayor may have planted only half of what he promised, but it's fair to see this urban forest as half-full, not half-empty."
The assets of a consultant accused of bribing county Assessor John Noguez have been unfrozen, reports the Los Angeles Times.

Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa will announce the city's gun buyback program at 10 a.m. at Frank Hotchkins Training Academy. At 11 a.m., he'll attend the Workforce Development Symposium at the Expo Center. He'll be at the Jewish Federation Headquarters at 7:30 p.m. to talk about immigration reform.
Eric Garcetti will be at the Sunset Triangle Plaza at 11 a.m. to talk about helping LA businesses.
L.A. City Councilmen Jose Huizar and Paul Koretz will urge ratification of a plan to get Los Angeles off of coal. 9:30 a.m. in City Council press room. At 9 a.m., CM Huizar will be at Mariachi Plaza Station to break ground on a pedestrian project.
CAO Miguel Santana will speak at LMU's Center for the Study of Los Angeles at 5 p.m.
