A state senator running for a congressional seat in the Inland Empire has won the backing of Emily's List.
Democrat Norma Torres is running to replace Rep. Gloria Negrete McLeod, who declined to run for another term in favor of a shot at the San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors.
"Norma Torres has been a strong voice for working families in the Inland Empire both as a state legislator and the former mayor of Pomona, and we need more women like her in Congress," said Stephanie Schriock, president of Emily's List. "Norma is part of a fantastic pipeline of women leaders who are rising through the ranks at every level of government."
Torres is running for the 35th District, which includes Ontario, Pomona and Rialto. Emily's List focuses on electing pro-choice Democratic women.
