As if there weren't enough drama at City Hall, L.A. City Councilman Bernard Parks will spend part of Monday on the set of a soap opera to promote adoption from animal shelters.
The Eighth District rep will film scenes for "The Bold and the Beautiful." The storyline calls for the characters of Liam Spencer and Hope Logan to adopt a pet from the South L.A. shelter. Parks will explain why he thinks it's important to adopt shelter animals.
The episodes are scheduled to air on April 30 and May 1-2, according to the councilman's office.
It's not the councilman's first television appearance. Back when he was chief of the LAPD, Parks appeared on an episode of "Girlfriends." (Another fun fact: Parks was named one of People magazine's "50 Most Beautiful People" back in 1998.)
Parks isn't the only City Hall politician to appear on a soap opera. Then-councilman Eric Garcetti played himself on a 2010 episode of "All My Children," as did then-Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa (watch below).
But Garcetti one-upped his predecessor by hitting prime time when he portrayed Mayor Ramon Quintero on TNT's "The Closer." His father, former D.A. Gil Garcetti, is a consulting producer on the show.
