The Arroyo Arts Collective and the 18th Street Art Center in Santa Monica are inviting artists to participate in Yarn Bombing 18th Street, an exhibition composed of yarn-based installations and gallery-hung work on the grounds of the Art Center. The yarnwork pieces will be unveiled on June 18 at the opening reception held from 6:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m.
Yarn bombing is the practice of creating knitted or crocheted pieces hung as street art on outdoor objects as a humorous or political statement. Read more about yarn bombing here on KPCC.
Organizers are asking for yarn art proposals which "push the knit/crochet envelope" until May 21. More details and dates can be found here.
