California has a longstanding tradition of leading the nation on environmental and clean energy initiatives. Even with the recession, investment in green technology is still growing in California. However, small businesses, especially ethnic small businesses, are often left wondering where the “green jobs” are. This is because small businesses are often left out of opportunities to shape public policy and engage in business partnerships that would help them go green.
Ethnic small businesses could become a powerful engine to help anchor California's environmental policies in local communities. This forum will examine the major ways to improve the ability of small businesses to do this, including government outreach, diversity, corporate partnerships, and strategic sustainable investments in disadvantaged communities.
The Greenlining Institute, in partnership with 89.3 KPCC, facilitated a discussion among small business leaders, advocates, and policy makers to address the opportunities and challenges of integrating small businesses into California's continuing environmental leadership.

Panel was moderated by
C.C. Song, Green Assets fellow at The Greenlining Institute.
Panelists included:
Marzia Zafar, California Public Utilities Commission
Richard Tom, Southern California Edison
Anh-Tuan Le, Vietnamese American Chamber of Orange County
Scarlett Noguera, Los Kitos
