Fireworks are set off in Burbank on July 4, 2008.

Every year, communities across the nation gather to celebrate the red, white and blue with parades, block parties, smokey barbecues and awe-inspiring firework shows. Throughout the city and the county, Angelenos can enjoy the traditional Fourth of July festivities while taking in the warm Southern California night.

Burbank Starlight Bowl
This concert series will have a fireworks show on the Fourth of July in celebration of our nation's birthday.

  • When: Fireworks begin at 9 p.m.

El Segundo Fourth of July Community Celebration 2012 and Fireworks Spectacular
This all day celebration, presented by the El Segundo Recreation & Parks Department, starts with a day of activities, food booths and live music, and wraps up with a fireworks show.


  • Where: 401 Sheldon St., El Segundo

  • When: 10 a.m. - 10 p.m.

  • Cost: $3 general admission

July Fourth Fireworks at the Coliseum
Located near downtown, this free fireworks show lasts a full hour. Head over early to catch a performance or grab a bite to eat.


  • Where: 3911 S. Figueroa St., Los Angeles

  • When: Shows and vendors begin at noon; fireworks begin 8:45 p.m.

  • Cost: Free admission; parking before 5 p.m. is $5, after 5 p.m. parking is free of charge

Palisades Parade
Head over to the fifth annual Palisades Parade to catch a concert and then watch a fireworks show.


  • Where: Palisades Charter High School Stadium by the Sea, 1577 Bowdoin Street, Pacific Palisades

  • When: Gates open at 6 p.m.; shows begin at 6:30 p.m.; fireworks begin at 9 p.m.

  • Cost: General admission $6 at the gate; $5 advance; children 12 and under free

Fourth of July Celebration at the Rose Bowl
A long-standing tradition – now in its 86th year – Americafest 2012 includes an all day festival with food and games, a freestyle motocross show and a massive fireworks presentation in the evening.


  • Where: 1001 Rose Bowl Dr., Pasadena

  • When: Festival begins at 2 p.m.; motocross show begins 7:25 p.m.; fireworks start at 9 p.m.

  • Cost: General admission $13, children seven and under free of charge
