This year's Summer Concert Series presents 50 concerts, which include Grammy-winners, acclaimed emerging talent, and world-renowned artists. Starting July 5 and running until September 9, concerts are held Thursdays through Saturdays at MacArthur Park.
Since its beginning in 2007, over 190,000 have gathered in MacArthur Park to take part in the Summer Concert Series and picnic with families and friends beneath the stars. Its location on the lawn provides listeners with a relaxed atmosphere and great acoustics. Bring your lawn chairs and blankets and take part in an experience that the whole family will never forget.
Many of the artists, as well as being family friendly, raise social awareness in their music. One of the performing artists, Criolo, who will be on stage on July 19th, blends hip hop with socially conscious lyrics. The event is designed to interest listeners of all ages and backgrounds. The various music genres -- including, but not limited to Latin, Americana, jazz -- allow for a diverse musical line up and the family events aim to create an event that everyone in the family can enjoy.
Similarly, Levitt Pavilion Summer Concert Series also puts on concerts in Pasadena, which, starting on June 16 and going until August 26, run from Wednesday to Sunday in the evenings. This year the Pasadena event is celebrating its 10-Year Anniversary. All the events are free.
