L.A. band Fishbone has defied category for over 30 years. Its eclectic mix of musical styles and high-octane performances has earned the group a cult following both within the industry and with everyday fans. And as one of very few all-black rock outfits, Fishbone's story encompasses three decades of L.A.’s social, cultural, and musical history.
On Friday, October 5th, original Fishbone members Norwood Fisher and Angelo Moore, along with filmmakers Lev Anderson and Chris Metzler, and initial Black Rock Coalition (L.A.) member/ex-Geffen A&R scout Maria Niles, brought their hard rock story to The Crawford Family Forum. KPCC's Online News Editor Tony Pierce led a combination of conversation and clips from the Fishbone documentary Everyday Sunshine to ask how the band came to be, what’s kept it going, and what it’s meant to call L.A. home.
