Obama strategist David Axelrod calls Joe Biden’s “bluntness and ebullience” his great asset, but also the vice president’s greatest liability. Candidate Paul Ryan, chair of the House Budget Committee and author of the economic principals guiding the Republican congress, is a marked contrast – controlled, intellectual, focused. In their first and only debate, the two men met head to head in a challenge that proved to be a marquee event in the long campaign toward the White House. In the last days before the November election, we watched their debate on Thursday, October 11, in the Crawford Family Forum. KPCC’s A Martinez and Politix editor-in-chief, David Mark, provided their unique political insights.
Panel:
- A Martinez, co-host of Take Two, KPCC's morning news magazine
- David Mark, editor-in-chief, Politix; former senior editor at Politico; author of “Going Dirty: The Art of Negative Campaigning”
