When it comes to babies and toddlers, the conventional three R’s – Reacting, Responding, and Regulating – seem to prevail.  But is that really the formula for raising happy, resilient children... or parents’ maintaining overall sanity?  Does parenting in the 21st century require different sensibilities than it did even forty or fifty years ago?  In that case, what ‘hold-overs’ persist; and what really needs to go with the bathwater?

Pediatrician and best-selling author Harvey Karp comes to The Crawford Family Forum on Saturday, December 8th, to discuss these questions with KPCC’s early childhood development correspondent Deepa Fernandes.

Join us for a liveblog of the event below, which will start at 2 p.m.

Dr. Harvey Karp is the creator of the DVD and book The Happiest Baby on the Block; The Happiest Toddler on the Block; and The Happiest Baby Guide to Great Sleep.

WE WANT YOUR QUESTIONS!  We’re inviting audience inquiries (via email, Facebook,  Twitter), which we’ll include among points about swaddling; teaching patience, motivation, and self-regulation; and toddler-friendly communication techniques.

Submit your questions and help shape the conversation via:
- Email to dfernandes@kpcc.org with “Baby Doc Question” subject header
- Facebook comment at KPCC's Crawford Family Forum's or KPCC's main FB page
