As we approach the election of a new mayor for Los Angeles, KPCC has joined with NBC4 Southern California and its Spanish-language partner Telemundo52, as well as the USC Sol Price School of Public Policy to co-host a mayoral debate between City Councilman Eric Garcetti and City Controller Wendy Greuel on Monday, April 22 at USC’s Louis B. Mayer Auditorium on its Health Sciences Campus in East L.A. The debate will be broadcast live and commercial-free on NBC4, Telemundo52 and KPCC from 7-8 p.m. The NBC4 live video will also be available online at kpcc.org.
NBC4 chief political reporter Conan Nolan will moderate the debate. Three expert panelists will present questions to the candidates: Frank Stoltze, KPCC crime and politics reporter; Ana Patricia Candiani, Telemundo52 news anchor; and Jack H. Knott, dean of the USC Sol Price School of Public Policy.
The debate will cover a wide range of critical issues facing the city right now, including jobs and the economy, pension reform, a growing budget problem, and public safety.
