The vote on Syria: Watch President Obama's speech
On Tuesday, Sept. 10, we watched as President Obama delivered a speech to the nation amid a flurry of diplomatic activity aimed at averting military action in Syria. We then listened to a panel of experts moderated by AirTalk's Larry Mantle.
Obama's remarks reiterated the case for taking military action against Syrian government forces as a response to chemical attacks that the administration says have killed more than 1,400 civilians, including more than 400 children, in August.
The White House on Monday said it believes it has the authority to take military action against Syria without the support of Congress, but the president and U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry have said that action would not involve boots on the ground.
Over the last several days, the White House has met with Congressional leaders to consider the consequences should the U.S. strike in Syria.
