The StoryCorps mobile recording studio, housed in a shiny Airstream trailer, will be outside the California African American History Museum in LA’s Exposition Park from March 24-April 23, 2011.
Ten years ago, StoryCorps began with a small booth in Grand Central Station and ever since they’ve been listening to the unique voices of people across the country. On October 23, join Cheech Marin, Alonzo Bodden, the Hon. Mark Ridley-Thomas, and others at the California African American Museum (CAAM) to kick off this exciting 10-year anniversary!
1:00 pm - MobileBooth Tour
KPCC will air a selection of local interviews recorded in the MobileBooth, and create special programming around the project. Segments of select interviews may also air nationally on NPR’s Morning Edition. With participant permission, all StoryCorps interviews will be archived at the American Folklife Center at the Library of Congress.
Interested in telling your story? The StoryCorps’ MobileBooth—an Airstream trailer outfitted with a recording studio—will be parked at CAAM for 3 weeks. L.A. residents can make a reservation to record a story by calling StoryCorps’ 24-hour, toll-free reservation line at 1-800-850-4406, or visiting storycorps.org. StoryCorps will record interviews in LA from October 23—November 16.
