American Youth Symphony
The mission of American Youth Symphony (AYS) is to train gifted young musicians for professional careers in symphony orchestras; to make music available to the community through admission-free concerts; and to foster music appreciation and provide instruments to children attending underserved public schools through music outreach. Hailed as one of the nation’s leading youth orchestras, the American Youth Symphony is dedicated to the artistic and professional development of outstanding musicians. Activities are designed to enhance their musical education through exceptional performance experience. The program helps them develop the full complement of skills required of a first-class musician in the 21st century.
Opening Night 2009-2010 Concert & Gala

American Youth Symphony opens its 2009-10 season on Sunday, November 22, 2009, with a spectacular concert featuring celebrated violinist Sarah Chang leading the orchestra in Vivaldi’s Four Seasons. The symphony’s own Alexander Treger conducts Mussorgsky/Ravel’s Pictures at an Exhibition. Concert begins at 6 PM at UCLA’s Royce Hall followed by 8 PM gala dinner featuring comedian Paul Reiser as Guest Emcee.
