KPCC Asks: When you talk about police at home, what conversations are you having?
KPCC’s investigation, Officer Involved, explores how often and under what circumstances law enforcement in Los Angeles County use deadly force.
From 2010–2014, the Los Angeles County District Attorney responded to hundreds of shootings involving on-duty law enforcement officers. According to D.A. records, 375 people were shot. One in four of them were unarmed. Circumstances behind the shootings varied widely. Some people were actively committing a violent crime–even shooting at police. No officers have been prosecuted for any of those shootings.
