Every four years, the world focus turns to football – what we in the United States call soccer. This year’s World Cup is in South Africa, the first time the contest has been held on the African continent.

Will you watch or ignore the World Cup?

KPCC wants your help in telling the World Cup story as it unfolds in Southern California in all its color, excitement and diversity. You can point us to the most amazing places to watch the early matches, the best food and drink, the most devoted fans.

We also want the back story of why soccer matters in your life. Did you play football as a child, maybe in another country? Perhaps you came up in the AYSO co-ed leagues. What life lessons did you learn through soccer?
