Los Angeles Police Chief Bill Bratton says he’s working with the Lakers to make sure Wednesday’s celebration of their NBA championship goes smoothly. The Lakers plan a parade, and possibly a rally, at the Coliseum.

Bill Bratton: "Some of what we'll be focusing on Wednesday will not only the parade route and the potential for some type of event at the Coliseum, but the surrounding streets. We'll be assisted significantly by daylight. All these thugs and knuckleheads seem to relish operating in the dark."

After the Lakers won in Orlando last night, a small crowd of revelers looted stores and threw bottles at police outside Staples Center in downtown L.A. Police arrested 18 people. Police say they’ll review TV and security camera tape to identify other looters. Eight police officers suffered minor injuries. The Coliseum Commission plans to prohibit alcohol at Wednesday’s celebration.
