Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa began his second four-year term today. The mayor addressed hundreds of people during swearing-in ceremonies on the south lawn of City Hall.
Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa: "I stand here humbled by the opportunity, grateful for your trust and mindful of the responsibility that lies ahead. I stand hopefully a little bit wiser, chastened and enlightened both by our successes and our failures over the last four years."
The mayor set five goals for his second term. Job creation tops the list, with a focus on green jobs. The unemployment rate in Los Angeles is 12 percent. City Attorney Carmen Trutanich and City Controller Wendy Greuel also took office today.
