Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa was sworn in for a second, four-year term Wednesday KPCC’s Frank Stoltze reports.

After the pomp and circumstance, the mayor said in his second inaugural speech that job creation will be his number one priority.

Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa: "With a 12 percent unemployment, what we need now is a jobs team dedicated 24X7 to nuts and bolts business attraction and retention. We're going to bring in some new people from outside city hall &ndash business ambassador to better connect our public servants to the private sector."

The mayor said green jobs will top the list. Acknowledging critics who say he’s been too concerned with “headlines,” Villaraigosa said he’ll “roll up his sleeves” and focus on “deadlines”, on priorities ranging from school reform to public safety. City attorney Carmen Trutanich and city controller Wendy Greuel also took office yesterday.
