David Campbell at the Hollywood Bowl
This Fourth of July weekend there are three big concerts you might want to check out at the Hollywood Bowl. On Friday and Saturday, John Fogerty will be performing with the L.A. Philharmonic. On Sunday the Phil will play with indie rock darlings Death Cab for Cutie.
So how do you blend classical music with the work of rock stars? That’s David Campbell’s job. He does many of the arrangements for these pairings at the Hollywood Bowl – sometimes he conducts them, too.
Music seems to be in Campbell’s genes – his son is the rock star Beck. David Campbell recently spoke about his son and what it takes to orchestrate a rock show with KPCC's Alex Cohen at the Hollywood Bowl.
