Los Angeles police are discouraging people without tickets from showing up at the Michael Jackson memorial at Staples Center tomorrow.

LAPD Captain Bill Murphy: “Honestly, you probably won’t even get close enough probably to see Staples. So you’re not going to be in there unless you have the ticket and the wristband. So your experience would be maybe with thousands of people behind a barricade. You’d see more if you go home or you go to where you’d see a television.”

Despite the warning, police say as many as a quarter-million people could show up for the public service at 10 in the morning.

More than 8,700 people won two tickets each to the memorial in an online drawing. Performers there will include Stevie Wonder and Mariah Carey. The Jackson family also plans a private funeral at Forest Lawn Hollywood Hills at 8 Tuesday morning.
