Now that cities across the Coachella Valley have begun issuing heat warnings, Riverside County is offering places to keep cool. KPCC’s Alex Cohen reports.

Forecasters are calling for temperatures in the triple digits during the next few days in Riverside County. That’s prompted public health agencies to open several cool centers – places where vulnerable seniors, disabled people, and others who need to escape the heat can get some relief. They’ve even opened a few sites for pets.

For a full list of locations go online to CAPRiverside.org or call toll-free 888-636-8676.

If you can’t make it, public health officials recommend visiting malls, public libraries, or restaurants to stay cool.
