Lawyers, judges by day; symphony orchestra members by night

A classical ensemble that makes its first bow Sunday night doesn’t include the usual mix of musicians. KPCC’s Hettie Lynne Hurtes has more on a group that, for awhile anyway, will exchange disputation for harmonization.

By day, they’re lawyers and judges. By night they’re members of a symphony orchestra. The new Los Angeles Lawyers Philharmonic performs its first full-length concert tonight in L.A.’s Mid-Wilshire district.
Prosecutors, civil rights attorneys, judges, and other legal professionals will attempt to raise the bar on interpretations of Mozart, Beethoven, Gershwin, and Sousa under the baton of attorney and founder Gary Greene.

Actress June Lockhart will emcee the premiere performance at the United Methodist Church on Wilshire Boulevard. For more information, go online to LACBA.org.
