The Orange County Great Park Conservancy is hosting its fourthannual fundraising event Friday. The money will go toward building new project on the 6-square-mile site on the former El Toro Marine Corps base.
Great Park Corporation chair Larry Agran told KPCC’s Larry Mantle that the next phase of development could begin as early as September.
Larry Agran: “Those first 500 acres are going to include the lake and cultural district, also the agricultural district. We’re actually going to have a metropolitan farm, a serious operating metropolitan farm, with about 125 acres, and a sports park of about 165 acres.”
Agran said about 150,000 people visited the Orange County Great Park last year. Officials project double that number of visitors next year. Tonight’s fundraiser begins at 6:30 at the Great Park balloon.
