Medical researchers are breaking new ground toward potential treatments for Alzheimer’s disease.

Dr. Andrea Tenner of UC Irvine said a drug similar to one that treats arthritis and psoriasis can stop the progression of Alzheimer’s symptoms in lab mice. She told KPCC’s "Patt Morrison" that while it’s still early for human clinical tests...

Andrea Tenner: "It is very promising because of the fact that a similar kind of drug has been used in humans and has not shown to have any detrimental effect as of yet."

Tenner is lead author of a new study on the drug therapy published in the Journal of Immunology.
