The family of the late pop-star Michael Jackson says he’ll be buried in Southern California on what would be his 51st birthday. KPCC’s Steve Julian reports.

A Jackson family spokesman says the late pop star will be buried on Saturday, August 29th, the day Michael was born in 1958. It’ll be a private ceremony for family and friends at Forest Lawn – Glendale, one of many Forest Lawn cemeteries in Southern California, and about 10 miles north of downtown Los Angeles.

A private funeral was held at Forest Lawn Hollywood Hills on the morning of the public memorial at Staples Center. The late entertainer will be buried on the Holly Terrace at the Great Mausoleum, which features replicas of works by Michelangelo. It also features a stained glass recreation of da Vinci’s “the Last Supper.”

Details about the burial and the whereabouts of Jackson’s body have been tightly guarded. Police say they won’t release autopsy results until their investigation into his death is complete.
