LAPD arrests suspect in teen sexual assaults

The Los Angeles Police Department announced the arrest of a sexual assault suspect. Police believe the suspect may be responsible for additional assaults on other teenage victims in addition to the one that led to his arrest.

On Monday, Sept. 28, at around 1:05 a.m., a woman was walking in the area around Alta Vista Place and Melrose Avenue. A man began walking alongside the victim and began talking with her, then pulled her into an alley and attempted to sexually assault her.

Nearby residents heard her cries for help, and 911 operators received several calls. As police arrived, the suspect escaped.

Detectives investigated and believe that registered sex offender Christopher Webb, age 22, is the perpetrator. Police arrested Webb, and he is being held on $225,000 bail.
