Fire burned across five acres of brush today in Griffith Park, a short distance from the Los Angeles Zoo. No structures were threatened and no injures were reported. However, the fire department was concerned due to weather conditions being conducive to the fire growing.
The fire was reported at 3:24 p.m. It sent white smoke into the air and burned slowly uphill, but crews from the Los Angeles city and county fire departments began fighting the fire quickly with a ground and air assault.
About 30 firefighters and four helicopter crews were fighting the fire.
