Hollywood High School football player dies after collapsing during game
HOLLYWOOD - A Hollywood High School freshman-sophomore football player died today after collapsing during a game against West Adams Preparatory High School.
The player was pronounced dead sometime after 4 p.m. at Childrens Hospital Los Angeles, Los Angeles Unified School District spokeswoman Ellen Morgan said.
The player's name was not immediately available.
Witnesses said the player had just carried the ball and was jogging to the sideline when he collapsed with about two minutes left in the game.
Paramedics took the player to the hospital and the game was halted.
