Sutherland, who also used the name Richard Arnold Broyles, was expected to be returned to the U.S. to face charges.
Sutherland told officials he wanted to voluntarily return to the U.S., according to the State Department.
Inglewood police couldn't confirm whether he was behind bars there this morning.
Sutherland, 49, is accused of allegedly molesting his girlfriend's 14-year-old daughter since the age of 7, McBride said. He is also accused in a second case involving a girl who was under the age of 14, police said.
Police received numerous tips from the public after news coverage aired about Sutherland.
