San Onofre nuclear power plant to test sirens

If you live or work in South Orange County, you'll hear a familiar sound Wednesday morning. The San Onofre Nuclear Station will do an annual test of its sirens between 10 and noon today.
They're intended to let people who live within 10 miles of the nuclear power plant know when there's a leak or problem. The sirens have to be tested every year.
Plant officials will activate the sirens several times today for three minutes at a time. You'll be able to hear them in San Clemente, Dana Point, San Juan Capistrano, and other parts of South Orange County. They'll blare at Camp Pendleton, too.
Officials want to get the word out that there's no need to call 911 if you hear the sirens. It's just a test.
