Congresswomen Maxine Waters and Laura Richardson under investigation by House Ethics Committee

Two southern California congresswomen are under investigation by the House Ethics Committee.

The Committee on Standards of Official Conduct voted to investigate allegations that Congresswoman Maxine Waters used her political clout for personal gain. The Democrat from Los Angeles arranged a meeting with Treasury officials on behalf of a trade association representing minority banks. Waters and her husband owned stock in one of the banks that requested a bailout at that meeting.

The Committee is also investigating whether Congresswoman Laura Richardson improperly profited from a real estate deal. The Long Beach Democrat lost a home in Sacramento to foreclosure, sold it, then reacquired it.

Richardson said she wasn’t the only American to face financial problems, but she’s been “subjected to premature judgments, speculation, and baseless distractions” that will be addressed in a fair evaluation of the facts. Congresswoman Waters said says she’s confident the ethics investigation will discover “there are no facts to support” the allegations of misconduct.

I'm tired of dirty politicians, lining their own pockets at the expense of the hard working people who put them in office. This woman, Maxine Waters, may have been somebody at some point. Today, she is a common thug. Get her out of office.

Does anyone REALLY think the dem run ethics panel will find anything wrong with any dem! Please use your head it's what they do with no embarassment or concerns. Anyone ever heard or chris dodd, charlie rangel, or Barney frank. All dems all with serious ethics issues all brought infront of ethics panels all cleared. Rangel bribbed members of ethics panel and got any with it. Dodd and franks got huge breaks front banks at the beginning of financial crisis with no penalty. And not forget queen Nancy pelosi her and hubby personally benefited from the farm bill 3 years ago. No nothing will happen to Maxine waters.

I'm confused...This articled stated that Rep. Waters and her Husband "Owned" stock in one of the member banks. If that is factual, there appears to be a problem in your reporting and that would cover almost all of the House and Senate politicans who "Owned " stock
