Former Orangewood Children’s Foundation official convicted of stealing donations
The former chief financial officer of the Orangewood Children’s Foundation has pleaded guilty to stealing hundreds of thousands of dollars in donations. Tracy Lynn Salcido of Yorba Linda entered the plea in a Santa Ana courtroom today.
Salcido worked for six years as the chief financial officer of the Orangewood Children’s Foundation. The non-profit in Santa Ana is the fundraising arm of Orange County’s shelter for abused and neglected children.

After Salcido left the job four years ago, auditors found she’d forged checks that transferred more than $780,000 from Orangewood’s accounts to her family’s business.
Prosecutors say Salcido spent the money on cars, vacations, and shopping sprees. They say she underreported donations to Orangewood and overstated expenses to hide the theft.
Salcido pleaded guilty to more than 200 charges off felony forgery and falsifying records. She’s been sentenced to 12 years in prison. She’ll also have to pay more than a million dollars in restitution.
The Orangewood Children’s Foundation already sued Salcido in civil court. It settled the civil case for a half-million dollars.
