USC may have taken a tumble on the football field against Stanford during the weekend. But it leads in one category of stats – the number of international students who enroll there.

An annual survey reiterates USC’s reputation as a magnet for students from all around the world.

The Institute of International Education reports that just under 7,500 foreign students in a total student body of about 33,500 enrolled at SC last academic year.

The largest cohorts of international Trojans come from India and China – both sent record numbers of students to USC last year – and scholars from 110 countries are represented in the student body.

Most of the international students are enrolled in graduate programs – and the most popular of those is the engineering school.

While scholarships and other financial assistance are available to some of these students, most from other countries pay their own way.

Two other private schools - New York University and Columbia University rank just after USC for foreign student enrollment.

UCLA ranks eighth among the top 25 schools on the list.
