LA woman sentenced to 1 year in prison for hit-and-run death

A 21-year old Los Angeles woman who pleaded guilty to the hit-and-run death of a motorcyclist was sentenced to a year in county jail today.

According to the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office, the woman, Jessica Alejandra Aba, was also sentenced to three years of formal probation and ordered to pay $10,000 in restitution to the victim's family.

Ada pleaded guilty Nov. 3 to leaving the scene of an accident, a felony, and a misdemeanor count of vehicular manslaughter. Aba's plea was not part of a plea agreement.

Ada collided with motorcyclist Federic Porras on Aug. 3 at Marianna Avenue and Valley Boulevard in Los Angeles. The victim was pronounced dead at the hospital.

LAPD officers arrested Aba on Sept. 28 after receiving a tip.
