Truck crashes into South LA church, damages building

A 2001 GMC Sierra pickup truck struck a two-story church in South Los Angeles, the Iglesia Fuente de Agua Viva (Fountain of Living Water Church), damaging the building.

The crash was reported just before midnight on Hooper Ave., east of South Central Ave., according to Sgt. Gregory Hoyte of the Los Angeles Police Department's Central Traffic Division.

Firefighters and the city Building and Safety Department were called to the scene early today. It was not clear whether the building would be deemed unsafe.
