Some stores open for holiday shopping on Thanksgiving
20-year-old Jamie Avery showed up early on Thanksgiving morning to the Baldwin Hills Crenshaw Plaza Wal-Mart.
For those who can't wait until Black Friday to begin their holiday shopping, some retailers have opened their doors on Thanksgiving.
Twenty-year-old Jamie Avery got an early start at the Wal-Mart at L.A.'s Baldwin Hills Crenshaw Plaza. He dressed in warm-ups, gloves and a winter hat in case he had to wait to get in.
"I came to get me a high-def camera so I can record the birth of my son," said Avery. "I came at like 6:30, but they told it was closed until 8, so I just came back, and it’s still no line and I’m shocked because I go every year and it’s usually hectic, lines be around the buildings. I shop anywhere from L.A. to Fontana, to Riverside, Ontario Mills, so I’m a real shopping fan."
Some Wal-Mart locations did open as early as 6 this morning. Radio Shack also planned to open some of its west coast stores on Thanksgiving Day.
