LA gas prices unchanged; Orange County gas prices rise half-cent

The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County was unchanged today, but fell four-tenths of a cent yesterday.

The average price of $2.949 is 1.4 cents less than a week ago and 7.2 cents less than a month ago, but 88 cents more than this time last year and $1.143 more than at the start of the year, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.

"Gas prices have become very predictable this year, unlike any other year in this decade," said Jeffrey Springs of the Automobile Club of Southern California.

The average price had fallen 22 of the past 26 days, decreasing 7.7 cents over that span.

The Orange County average price rose a half-cent today to $2.941, a day after falling two-tenths of a cent.

The Orange County average price is 1.3 cents less than a week ago and 7 cents less than a month ago, but 90.6 cents more than this time last year and $1.145 more than at the start of the year.

The Orange County average price had decreased 22 of the past 25 days, falling 7.4 cents over the period.
