Los Angeles war memorial to be unveiled Saturday in Father Serra Park

A memorial for the recipients of the nation’s highest military honors will be unveiled Saturday in Los Angeles.

The “Wall of Honor” contains the names of nearly 3500 veterans who have received the Congressional Medal of Honor, first awarded by President Abraham Lincoln. World War II veteran William Lansford heads the foundation responsible for the memorial.

"Abraham Lincoln said that a nation that doesn’t honor its heroes will not long endure. We feel that it’s necessary-- especially in these difficult times where they’re having to send more young men and women overseas to fight--and I think those people should not be forgotten."

The Los Angeles Wall of Honor ceremony is at 11am at Father Serra Park, across from Union Station in downtown LA.
