The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors today approved a plan to increase the cost of a regular marriage license from $70 to $90, while the cost of a confidential license will go up from $70 to $85.
A confidential license can only be used within Los Angeles County, while a regular license can be used anywhere in the state. Both are good for 90 days.
The new fees are expected to raise an additional $500,000 in county revenues from February through June of next year.
The higher charges will go into effect Jan. 21.
