Orange County struggles to find grand jury applicants
The Orange County Superior Court is struggling to find grand jury applicants.
The 2010-2011 Orange County Grand Jury applications are due January 8th. But court officials say only about 100 people have applied this year. That’s about half as many applications as last year.
The grand jury is made up of 19 people who live in the county. They provide oversight over county government, studying everything from conditions in the jails to county finances.
Grand jurors serve for one year, starting the first of July.
The jurors get paid $50 a day and usually work four to five days a week.
