Injured Angeles National Forest hiker airlifted to hospital

ALTADENA — An injured 34-year-old hiker was airlifted from the Angeles National Forest above Altadena today.

The Los Angeles County Fire Department received the call for help from the hiker just before 1 p.m., Inspector Frederic Stowers said. Two search-and-rescue teams were sent to find the hiker, who was taken to Huntington Memorial Hospital in Pasadena aboard a sheriff's Rescue Air 5 helicopter.

The man was treated for an unspecified, but non-life-threatening leg injury he suffered in a fall, said Sgt. Brett Hanson of the Altadena Sheriff's Station.
